The cost of flood insurance is high on the news agenda again following the flood damage caused by Storms Desmond, Eva and Frank. It is only two years since the previous significant flood event in the UK and experts predict that the risk of flooding is set to increase even further.

Major fundraising drive launched to complete the flood defences in Thatcham

MP Richard Benyon endorses plans for broad community involvement to protect hundreds of homes

A campaign was launched today to raise over £100,000 in the next three months and £200,000 in total to protect hundreds of homes and businesses in Thatcham from future flooding.

With the first of several planned flood alleviation schemes complete at Little Copse (south-east of Cold Ash Hill), it is time to embark on the second scheme.

An application for flood alleviation work adjacent to Tull Way, backing onto Henwick Close and Ashmore Green Road, has been submitted by West Berkshire Council.
