The Core Strategy is the lead document within the West Berkshire Local Development Framework (LDF) which shows how the development planned for West Berkshire to 2026 will shape the District, setting out the long term vision for the future.
We have now set out our preferred options for addressing the issues facing West Berkshire over the next 20 years, in a document called ‘Options for the Future’. This includes information about where we are planning to build the 10,500 houses set out for West Berkshire within the South East Plan, as well as policies to guide that development.
There is a six week consultation period on the ‘Options for the Future’, which started on 22 May and runs to 3 July. We want as many people as possible to get involved in shaping the future of West Berkshire, so we are going out into the communities of West Berkshire and holding a series of public exhibitions during the consultation period.
We will then prepare the final draft of the Core Strategy, taking into account all of the comments received during the consultation, as well as any other evidence.
For a full list of consultation material, ways to comment and the location of the exhibitions please visit the Council’s website at http://www.westberks.gov.uk/ldfconsultation. The consultation information is also available at all libraries in West Berkshire and at the council offices in Newbury and Sainsbury’s Calcot. Please take the opportunity to tell us what you think.
Any questions on Options for the Future can be directed to the Planning Policy Team at West Berkshire Council.
